Official Contest Rules

Please read these rules carefully before entering the contest. Your participation signifies your full agreement to the terms and conditions outlined below. We've tried to make them as clear and straightforward as possible to ensure a fair and enjoyable contest for everyone.

The Editora Caminho das Letras Reader's Contest is open to individuals who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. Participants must be legal residents of Brazil. Employees, contractors, and directors of Editora Caminho das Letras, as well as their immediate family members (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members, are not eligible to participate. Only one entry per person is permitted throughout the contest period. Multiple entries will result in disqualification.

All entries must be original work created solely by the participant. Submissions must directly relate to the contest theme: 'Journeys of Hope'. Accepted entry formats include short stories (maximum 1500 words), poems (maximum 50 lines), or photos with a caption (maximum 200 words for the caption). Entries must be submitted exclusively through the official entry form provided on this landing page before the specified deadline. Acceptable file formats for uploads are .pdf, .doc, .docx, .txt, .jpeg, and .png. There is a maximum file size limit of 5MB per entry. Submissions that are incomplete, illegible, corrupted, or submitted after the deadline will be disqualified. Offensive or inappropriate content is strictly prohibited and will lead to immediate disqualification.

Entries will be judged by a panel of experienced editors and literary professionals from Editora Caminho das Letras. Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria: Originality (uniqueness and creativity of the idea); Relevance to the Theme ('Journeys of Hope'); Creativity (artistic merit and imaginative expression); and Quality of Execution (writing skill, photographic composition, clarity of expression, adherence to format guidelines). The decisions of the judging panel are final and binding in all matters relating to the contest.

Potential winners will be notified via the email address provided in their entry form within fourteen (14) days following the contest closing date (November 30, 2023). Potential winners must respond to the notification email and claim their prize within seven (7) days of the initial contact attempt. Failure to respond within this timeframe, inability to accept the prize as awarded, or disqualification for any reason will result in the prize being forfeited. In such cases, Editora Caminho das Letras may select an alternate winner from the remaining eligible entries, at its sole discretion.

By submitting an entry to the contest, you warrant that the submission is your original work and does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of any third party. You retain the copyright to your original submission. However, by entering, you grant Editora Caminho das Letras a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, and promote your entry in connection with the contest, including on our website, social media channels, promotional materials, and other platforms, without further compensation or notification. This license is perpetual and irrevocable for the purposes of contest promotion and archiving.

Editora Caminho das Letras reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the contest if fraud, technical failures, or any other factor beyond reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the contest, as determined by Editora Caminho das Letras in its sole discretion. Editora Caminho das Letras assumes no responsibility for lost, late, incomplete, incorrect, or misdirected entries or for any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of entries. By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Editora Caminho das Letras, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability arising from or related to the contest, including without limitation, the acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize. All disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this contest shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action.

This contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations of Brazil. Void where prohibited by law.
